When to Call Us

What counts as a drainage emergency?

Call our emergency line immediately for any of the following situations. Do not wait — these problems worsen rapidly and can cause serious property damage and health hazards.

Sewage backing up into property

Sewage coming up through floor drains, baths or toilets is a hygiene emergency. Stop all water use immediately and call us.

No working toilets in the building

Loss of toilet facilities in a home or business requires immediate attention — this is a health and safety issue.

Serious flooding from overflowing drains

External drains overflowing into the property or causing flooding around the building. Don't wait to see if it clears.

Commercial drainage failure during service

A blocked drain during restaurant service, school hours or care home operations requires immediate emergency response.

Drain collapse or sinkholes forming

Soft ground appearing, sinkhole developing, or surface water not draining at all after recent blockage. Ground stability risk.

Blocked main sewer — multiple fixtures affected

When toilets, baths and sinks across the whole building back up simultaneously, the main sewer line is blocked.

What to do while you wait for us

  • Stop all water use immediately — no flushing, no taps, no dishwasher or washing machine
  • If sewage is visible, keep children and pets away from the affected area
  • Don't try to clear the blockage yourself with chemicals — this can make it worse
  • If flooding is reaching electrical outlets, contact an electrician or turn off the mains supply
  • Open windows if there is a strong sewage smell to allow ventilation

Why no inflated out-of-hours rates?

We apply fair, transparent pricing at all times. Some drainage companies charge 2–3x their normal rate for evening and weekend callouts. We don't. You'll get a clear quote before we start work, and that's what you pay — regardless of what time it is.

Sewage backing up through our bathroom floor at 11pm on a Sunday. NorthFlow answered immediately, had an engineer with us within 90 minutes, and the problem was completely resolved by 1am. Couldn't believe the response. Absolute lifesavers.

Discovered a flooded basement at our restaurant at 6am before a lunch service. Called NorthFlow, they were on site within the hour and had us cleared and operational before we opened. No drama, no inflated rates. Outstanding.
